From Idea to Canvas
Thank you for considering a commissioned artwork.
I’m always inspired by the opportunity to collaborate and bring a personal vision to life. Below, you’ll find an overview of the commission process—a starting point that can be tailored and refined as we move forward together, ensuring the artwork reflects your unique direction.
1. Vision & Planning
We begin with a conversation about your vision—whether it’s a portrait, figurative work, or a more conceptual piece. This stage helps define the mood, size, medium, palette and overall direction of the artwork.
2. Concept Sketch
I will prepare an initial sketch or study to give you a sense of composition and atmosphere. This is your opportunity to provide feedback and ensure the piece aligns with your expectations.
3. Creation Process
Once the concept is approved, I begin the painting process. Throughout this stage, I can share progress updates if you wish, allowing you to stay connected to the creation of your artwork.
4. Review & Delivery
When the painting is complete, you’ll have a chance to review the final piece. After your approval, the artwork will be carefully prepared and delivered, ready to become a lasting part of your collection.

Thoughts or Questions?
Feel free to reach out with any questions about the commission process—I’m excited to learn more about your vision and transform it into a unique artwork.
A Few Notes on Our Journey
To begin your custom commission, please share with me reference images and any additional information you have regarding your vision. I also ask that you share few of my previous works that you feel most connected to, along with any specific color palette requests and desired dimensions. This ensures we are on the same page visually and allows me to understand your unique aesthetic preferences. With this information, I can provide you with a quote and a timeline for your unique piece.
Feel free to browse my collections for inspiration and reference.
Project Timeline
Each commission typically takes 1–3 months to complete, depending on the scale, medium and complexity of the work. The timeline begins once the deposit has been received.
Payment & Schedule
A 50% deposit is required to secure your commission and begin the creative process. The remaining balance is due upon completion, prior to shipping. Shipping costs and any applicable import taxes are calculated separately.
Copyright & Usage Rights
As is standard practice in the art world, the artist retains the copyright to all commissioned artwork. While you will be the proud owner of the physical artwork, Rutart retains the copyright. This allows me to use the image of the piece in my portfolio, on social media, and for future reproductions like prints.
